Barbican Painters
Painting
Thorough preparation and protection
• Always clean, fill, sand and prime surfaces properly so finishes last and don’t fail early.
Decorating
Protect floors, furniture and fixtures with sheeting and masking so our client isn’t left with spatter, dust or damage.
Correct products, methods and finishes
• Use the right paint type and sheen for each area (e.g. moisture‑resistant paints in kitchens/bathrooms, durable trims on woodwork).
• Apply systematically (cutting in edges, rolling in consistent patterns, working top‑to‑bottom) to achieve an even, professional finish.
Professionalism
Professionalism and clear communication
• Provide clear, detailed quotations, realistic timeframes and honest advice on colours and finishes so clients know exactly what to expect.
• Maintain good site conduct (punctual, tidy, minimal disruption) and invite feedback to refine service and build long‑term reputation

Repairing dampness in walls.
Firstly, it’s very important to find and stop the source of damp.
• If it isn’t condensation…Check for leaks in gutters or terraces, downpipes, roof tiles, plumbing pipes, or cracks in external walls near the patch.
Strip back and clean the affected area
• Remove any loose or flaking paint, blistered wallpaper, and soft or crumbly plaster around and slightly beyond the visible damp patch.
• Scrub the area with a mould/remover or diluted bleach (or white vinegar).
Dry and treat the wall
• Allow the wall to dry thoroughly for days or weeks, depending on how wet it is; speed this with ventilation, gentle heat, and a dehumidifier.
• Once dry, apply a fungicidal wash and then a damp-proof or stain-blocking primer/paint suitable for interior walls.
Refinish and prevent recurrence
• Re-plaster any areas where plaster was removed, using a suitable base coat and letting it dry fully before repainting.
• Repaint with a breathable, mould-resistant emulsion and maintain good ventilation and regular checks so any new damp is caught early.
“I can unreservedly recommend Max and his team who have done a superb job both on decorating my entire three floor home as well as laying lino in the toilet.
All work was done speedily, professionally and without fuss. For the decoration, they replaced pictures, books and book-cases and a lot of heavy furniture to their original positions and took respectful care over the entire process..”

Willoughby House
“I’d made a fairly decent job of decorating my Barbican flat before, but decided to search for an approach a bit more special this time around.
And I wanted to hire someone who understood the Barbican aesthetic.
A neighbour recommended Max and I’m delighted with both the results and the helpful advice.”
